This December, the Hoops for the House basketball tournament will once again bring together 10 high school teams at Jackson Christian School for three exciting days of competition — December 19th, 20th, and 22nd. Each day will feature five games of great basketball, but more importantly, a community coming together to make a difference.
All proceeds from this special event will benefit the Ryder Lewis Memorial Fund through the Community Foundation of West Tennessee, directly supporting the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis and our upcoming Ronald McDonald House in Jackson.
Ryder’s life and legacy continue to touch the hearts of many. Since his passing in 2018, his family and friends have worked tirelessly to help others in his memory—especially children and families facing medical crises. Through their generosity, more than $245,000 has already been donated to help establish the new Ronald McDonald House in Jackson, located on the second floor of the Hyatt Place hotel across from the hospital.
Once complete, this House will provide free, comfortable accommodations for families whose children are receiving lifesaving care, along with kitchen facilities, family gathering areas, laundry, and play spaces. Thanks to the kindness and vision of the Ryder Lewis Foundation and events like Hoops for the House, families in West Tennessee will soon have a “home-away-from-home” right when they need it most.
We are deeply grateful to the organizers, players, and sponsors of this year’s tournament for choosing to make an impact that reaches far beyond the court. Every contribution—every cheer—helps families stay close to their children while they heal.
